JAMB REQUIREMENTS TO STUDY ANATOMY IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES, YOUR USEFUL GUIDE IN 2023/2024
This article will accurately guide you through the requirements to study Anatomy in any Nigerian university of your choice. You will know what it takes to successfully gain admission into the medical faculty of any Nigerian university to study Anatomy. You will also see a list of Nigerian universities where you can study Anatomy or Human Anatomy.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is a statutory body in Nigeria saddled with the responsibility to conduct matriculation examination and admit students into Nigerian tertiary institutions. The requirements to study Anatomy in Nigerian universities stated in this post are as spelt out on pages 429 to 432 of the current JAMB Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS). UTME / O’ level subject requirements to study Anatomy in Nigerian universities
Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
JAMB UTME subject combination requirements to study Anatomy in Nigerian universities
JAMB UTME subjects are the subjects which you must write in the JAMB Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The UTME subject combination requirement for Anatomy is as follows:
Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Direct Entry requirements to study Anatomy in Nigerian universities
Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Biology, Chemistry and Physics in addition to the UTME requirements.
Special considerations for Direct Entry
(i) ABUAD requires three (3) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
(ii) CALABAR and PHC- No direct entry.
(iii) EBSU accepts B.Sc 2nd class upper division in any Biological Science programme plus ‘O’ Level credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at one (1) sitting.
(iv) LAUTECH accepts ‘A’ Level or its equivalent with good passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. ND with upper credit in related programme plus the UTME requirements may be considered for admission into 200 level.
(v) DELSU requires:
a) HSC or GCE ‘A’ Level or its equivalent passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology (Botany may be accepted in lieu of Biology or Zoology.
b) First degree in relevant Biological Sciences not below Second Class Lower Division.
(vi) FED-DUTSE requires three (3) ‘A’ Level subjects in Biology, Chemistry and Physics obtained ftom IJMB.
(vii) ILORIN accepts two (2) ’A’ Level passes chosen from Biology, Chemistry and Physics in addition to the UTME requirements.
(viii) ABU accepts ‘A’ Level/IJMB Passes in three subjects in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology.
(ix) PHC accepts Three (3) A/Level passes in JUPEB or IJMB or GCE or HSC Passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology including UTME entry requirements.
(x) FED-LAFIA accepts In addition to UTME requirements, DE candidate must have any of the following: A minimum of at least 9 points in IJMB. Two A’ level credit passes in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. 1st degree in relevant Biological or Physical Sciences with at least 2nd class lower degree.
(xi) EUI accepts Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology in addition to UTME requirements. BSc. etc in a relevant field. OND/HND in related courses with Credit pass plus O’ level entry requirement. IJMB/JUPEB.
(xii) FUTA requires:
a) A minimum of Upper Credit at ND Level from recognised Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in relevant disciplines.
b) ‘A’ Level passes or its equivalent (such as GCE Cambridge, JUPEB etc.) at one sitting in at least two (2) Science subjects including Biology.
Special considerations for UTME
(i) CALABAR requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(ii) EBSU accepts only one (1) sitting.
(iii) MAIDUGURI accepts Mathematics in lieu of Physics.
(iv) DELSU requires SSC or its equivalent with credit pass in at least five (5) subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings.
(v) FED-DUTSE requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
(vi) RSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics.
(vii) FUTA requires five (5) SSC credit passes or its equivalent at a maximum of two (2) sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(viii) ILORIN requires five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology. Chemistry and Physics.
(ix) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(x) PHC requires Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
(xi) FED-LAFIA requires Five (5) Credit passes at SSCE, GCE, NECO and NABTEB O’ Level examination in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings.
(xii) EUI requires Five Credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings.
Special considerations for UTME subjects
(i) ABUAD accepts Physics, Chemistry and Biology OR Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.
(ii) BABCOCK accepts any three (3) of Physics, Chemistry Biology and Mathematics.
(iii) BSU, UNIZIK, EBSU, CALABAR and PHC require Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(iv) OOU accepts any three (3) of Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology.
(v) ILORIN requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics. (vi) ABU requires Use of English, Physics ,Chemistry and Biology. (vii) PHC requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics. (viii) EUI requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Nigerian Universities where you can study Anatomy
AAU, ABSU, ABU, ABUAD, ACHIEVERS, BABCOCK, BAYERO, BENIN, BINGHAM, BOWEN, BSU, CHRISLAND, COOU, DELSU, EBSU, EKO-UNI, EKSU, ESUT, EUI, FED-KEBBI, FED-LAFIA, FED-OYE EKITI, AEFUNA, GREGORY, GSU, IGBINEDION, ILORIN, JOS, LAUTECH, LCITY, MADONNA, MAIDUGURI, MAITAMA, NOK, NOVENA, OOU, OSUMS, PHC, PAMO, RSU, TAU, UNIOSUN, UNIZIK and YSU.
