The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is a statutory body in Nigeria saddled with the responsibility to conduct matriculation examination and admit students into Nigerian tertiary institutions. UTME / O’ level subject requirements to study Biomedical Engineering in Nigerian universities
Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
JAMB UTME subject combination requirements to study Biomedical Engineering in Nigerian universities
JAMB UTME subjects are the subjects which you must write in the JAMB Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The UTME subject combination requirement for Biomedical Engineering is as follows:
Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Direct Entry requirements to study Biomedical Engineering in Nigerian universities
Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Biology/ Zoology/Botany and Mathematics.
Special considerations for Direct Entry
(i) LAGOS accepts Very good passes in three JUPEB/A’ Level subjects: Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
(ii) ILORIN accepts:
a) Candidates should have five (5) ‘O’ Level WASCE/NECO and its equivalent credits in five subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English Language and Biology.
b) Candidates with Ordinary National Diploma (OND/ND) in Biomedical Engineering or other relevant engineering disciplines with minimum of Upper Credit and a minimum of one-year post qualification industrial attachment may be considered for admission into a 4-year degree programme.
c) Candidates who possess three ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry considered.
Higher National Diploma (HND) at Upper credit Level in Biomedical Engineering may be considered for admission into the 300 Level of the programme and, must have at least 1-year post qualification experience.
Special considerations for UTME
(i) ABUAD requires at least five (5) SSC credit passes or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(ii) ILORIN: UTME candidates should have five (5) ‘O’ Level WASCE/NECO and its equivalent credits in five subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English Language and Biology.
(iii) LAGOS requires Six O/Level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
Special considerations for UTME subjects
i) ILORIN requires Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
ii) LAGOS requires English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics & Physics.
