JAMB REQUIREMENTS TO STUDY MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES, YOUR USEFUL GUIDE IN 2023/2024

Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
JAMB UTME subject combination requirements to study Medical Laboratory Science in Nigerian universities
JAMB UTME subjects are the subjects which you must write in the JAMB Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The UTME subject combination requirement for Medical Laboratory Science is as follows:
Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Direct Entry requirements to study Medical Laboratory Science in Nigerian universities
A’ Level passes to include Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology
Special considerations for Direct Entry
(i) ABUAD requires three (3) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Zoology.
(ii) BAYERO accepts Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
(iii) BENIN – Same as in Medical Biochemistry. Accepts degrees in related Science programmes.
(iv) CALABAR accepts ‘A’ Level passes in any two (2) of Chemistry, Biology and Physics, B.SC Biological Science; AIMLT or FIMLT plus UTME requirements.
(v) EBSU accepts AIMLS or its equivalent plus relevant UTME requirements.
(vi) IBADAN accepts ‘A’ Level passes to include Physics, Chemistry and Biology B.Sc. or HND in relevant programme; AIMLT or FIMLT plus UTME requirements.
(vii) JOS accepts first degree in relevant Biological Science programme with at least a Second class lower division.
(viii) LAGOS requires:
a) JUPEB/‘A’ -level passes in Physics Chemistry and Biology.
b) B.Sc. Degree (first class/second class upper) in Medical related fields.
(ix) LAUTECH accepts ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, and Biology with the UTME requirements OR ND/HND upper credit or first degree in relevant programme plus the UTME requirements.
(x) MAIDUGURI and IMSU accept certificate of Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology, Science/Technology (IMLS/T) of Nigeria plus the UTME requirements.
(xi) MAIDUGURI accepts Zoology in lieu of Biology.
(xii) NDU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
(xiii) UNIZIK accepts HND/B.SC in Biological Sciences or related programme.
(xiv) ABU accepts ‘A’ Level/IJMB Passes in three subjects in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology. Registered Medical Laboratory Certificate.
(xv) RSU accepts Admission to Year III; HND (Upper Credit) in relevant discipline. Admission to Year II; HND (Lower Credit) in relevant discipline. OND/ND (Upper Credit) in Sabove must also satisfy the UME entry requirements.
(xvi) UNN accepts:
a) B.Sc. in relevant programmes with at least second 2nd class Lower Division plus ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two (2) sittings.
b) ND upper credit in related programmes plus the UTME requirements.
c) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology or credit passes in two (2) relevant ‘O’ Level subjects.
d) Candidates with AIMLS professional plus the UTME requirements.
(xvii) EUI accepts:
a) ‘A’ Level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology in addition to UTME requirements.
b) B.Sc. in relevant fields not below Second Class Lower Division
c) OND/HND in related courses with an upper credit plus ‘O’ Level entry requirement.
Special considerations for UTME
(i) AAU accepts B.Sc in relevant programme with good grade. Remedial results not acceptable.
(ii) CALABAR – same as in Medicine and Surgery.
(iii) IBADAN accepts five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at one (1) sitting.
(iv) EUI requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(v) LAGOS requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
(vi) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(vii) RSU accepts Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(viii) JABU – Candidates must obtain credit in English Language, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics in Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings with an appropriate or acceptable pass in the UTME.
Special considerations for UTME subjects
(i) BABCOCK accepts any three (3) of Physics, Chemistry Biology and Mathematics.
(ii) RSU requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(iii) LAGOS requires English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
(iv) ABU requires Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
