UTME / O’ level subject requirements to study Chemical Engineering in Nigerian universities
Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language and any other Science subject.
JAMB UTME subject combination requirements to study Chemical Engineering in Nigerian universities
JAMB UTME subjects are the subjects which you must write in the JAMB Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The UTME subject combination requirement for Chemical Engineering is as follows:
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Direct Entry requirements to study Chemical Engineering in Nigerian universities
‘A’ Level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Special considerations for Direct Entry
(i) ABU accepts:
a) ‘A’ Level/IJMB passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
b) ND upper credit in Chemical Engineering from accredited institution
c) HND lower credit in Chemical Engineering from any accredited Institution.
(ii) ABUAD accepts HND lower credit and ND upper credit in addition to UTME requirements into 200 level.
(iii) ABUJA accepts HND lower credit or ND upper credit in Chemical Engineering plus UTME requirements into 200 level.
(iv) BAUCHI accepts ND/HND in Chemical Engineering.
(v) BENIN – in addition to UTME requirements requires
(a) first degree Second Class Lower in Science or degree in Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy and PTI HND lower credit / ND upper credit.
(b) HND upper credit in Engineering/Technology and PTI upper credit into 300 levels.
(c) ND / HND holders should have ‘A’ grade in Mathematics.
(vi) CARITAS – No Direct Entry.
(vii) COOU accepts ND/HND lower credit.
(viii) ESUTECH require ‘A’ Level passes in any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. ESUTECH also accepts NCE/ND/HND/first degree with good grades and UTME requirements into 200 or 300 level respectively.
(ix) FUTO requires:
a) At least three ‘A’ level passes not below Grade C in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
b) ND/HND at Upper Credit level in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Geology or Engineering.
c) First Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Geology or Engineering.
d) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects namely Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. It does not accept NCE. Candidates must in addition meet UTME ‘O’ Level requirements.
(x) IGBINEDION accepts ND in Engineering and related programmes.
(xi) ILORIN – Same as Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering. Relevant Programmes include Biomedical Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, Water and Environmental Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Polymer Engineering.
(xii) LAGOS accepts Very good passes in three JUPEB/A’ Level subjects: Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. ‘A’ level Cambridge HND/ND (Upper Credit) in related Engineering courses.
(xiii) LAUTECH accepts:
a) ‘A’ Level Passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
b) ND/HND upper credit in related programmes plus the UTME requirements may be considered for admission into 200 level.
(xiv) MAIDUGURI accepts ND Credit and IJMB 9 points in related programmes.
(xv) MAUTY accepts:
a) GCE `A’ Level and IJMB passes in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
b) Lower credit in OND/HND in Chemical Engineering or any other relevant Field.
c) IJMB 7 points minimum in English, Physics, Chemistry/Mathematics.
(xvi) MINNA accepts ND/HND lower credit in addition to UTME requirements.
(xvii) NILE – Same as in Computer Engineering.
(xviii) OAU accepts ND upper credit in Chemical Engineering only.
(xix) OSUSTECH accepts first degree from a recognized university in the relevant subjects not below Second Class Lower.
(xx) UYO accepts ND/HND in relevant programmes plus the UTME requirements.
(xxi) EUI accepts:
a) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
b) OND/HND not below credit level.
c) Very good passes in JUPEB/IJMB subjects: Literature in English and two (2) Arts or Social Sciences.
d) B.Sc. in Relevant field not below Second Class Lower.
(xxiii) FUPRE requires ‘A’ Level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
(xxiv) UYO accepts ND/HND in relevant programmes plus UTME requirements.
(xxv) PHC accepts Three (3) Advanced level GCE or HSC or JUPEB or IJMB passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, including UTME entry requirements. OND (upper credit) in the relevant discipline from a recognized and COREN accredited institution including UTME entry requirements. HND (upper credit) in the relevant discipline from a recognized and COREN accredited institution with 2 years working experience including UTME entry requirements.
(xxvi) LANDMARK accepts A Level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Special considerations for UTME
(i) ESUTECH accepts ‘O’ Level credit pass in English Language.
(ii) UNN – Same as in Agricultural Engineering.
(iii) ILORIN accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.
(iv) MAUTY requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Technical Drawing/ Geography/ Further Mathematics.
(v) OSUSTECH and LAGOS require ‘O’ Level credit pass in Further Mathematics as the fifth subject.
(vi) EUI requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any other Science subject.
(vii) FUTO requires at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any other science subject in not more than two (2) sittings. At least a Pass is required in Biology.
(viii) LAGOS requires Five O/Level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
(ix) ABU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other Science subject. (Including Economics, Technical Drawing, Metalwork and Woodwork).
(x) PHC requires Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language and any other subject from Biology, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics
(xi) LANDMARK requires Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and either credit pass in Further Mathematics, Biology or Technical Drawing.
Special considerations for UTME subjects
(i) NILE – Same as in Computer Engineering.
(ii) MAIDUGURI requires Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry or Biology.
(iii) FUPRE requires Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
(iv) FUTO requires Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
(v) MAUTY requires Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
(vi) LAGOS requires English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics & Physics.
(vii) ABU requires Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
(viii) PHC requires Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
(ix) LANDMARK requires Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
